On November 16th, 2006, my younger brother Alec Salamonski was killed in an auto
accident. Alec was driving to visit a friend when another driver tried to cross over highway
traffic and for some reason was unable to see Alec's car driving down the highway. He
smashed his pickup truck into Alec's
driver side door. Alec didn't have a chance.
For those of you that didn't get to know Alec, he was a great friend, brother,
and person.
He was an Eagle Scout, a prodigy with computers, and someone you could trust. He was
a real person - one of the few people I could talk to about serious things, yet also have a
great time partying with.
Alec volunteered a lot of his time and money to different causes, including the
United Way
and other charities. Alec was only 19, and had he lived longer, there's even more goodwill
he would have spread throughout the world had he been allowed. To tip our hat to his life
and good works, as well as to honor him the best way we know how, we have set up a trust
in his name. It will support real causes, such as scholarships so kids can go to college.
The goal is to maximize the amount of good we can do and continue to do so over the long
term - the trust will still be here 50
years from now!
If this is a cause you'd like to support, it's very easy to do so. Simply
mail a donation to:
M&I Bank- Alec Salamonski Memorial Fund
101 W. Fourth Street
Marshfield, WI 54449
Every dime that goes in will come back out to help
the community. I don't know how I'm going to live the
rest of my life without Alec around, but this is the
best thing to do given the circumstances. Thank you
to everyone for the support you have shown me and
my family. I will see you out there!
